Pittman's Cabin at Riverbend proved to be an exceptional stay. We enjoyed it and would do it again. Every day was different there, with so many options for entertainment and just chilling. It is in a private community that has a private lake, Mirror Lake, a waterfall, and a swimming hole with huge rocks at the bottom of the hill. Only 10% of the cabins are rented out for tourists. The guest book was enjoyable to read -- the owner, Jeff Pittman, loaned the place out to those in need during Hurricane Irma.
We discovered that Jeff is an artist. Vanessa commented that there were so many paintings and she wasn't sure she liked that, so we started to really look at the paintings more closely. Sure enough the owner painted the majority. And then Vanessa determined that many were really nice paintings. :-)
At the cabin we played games, watched movies, ate, played outside, enjoyed fire, snoozed, and just chilled . . .
Snoozing was easier there because it took longer to see the sun in the morning, with the trees and the mountains. And the sun was blocked earlier in the evening.
Zane and Vanessa revolved their days around switching spots in the bunk bed. Hendrix routinely got up and had an urge to hang out in the tree house. It's not how I envisioned it but I love that they delighted in things they enjoy. :-)
You drive the down the mountain and into the valley to get to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. It's about a 7-minute drive . . .
