Parks and Recreation

(Taken on the 4th Day)

We sort of did this last year too and it worked out perfectly for these two to spend quality time together, but when V takes a class or participates in a week-long activity, I'm able to set a goal with Z & H for playing at different parks each day of the week. So we did that once again this summer, while V was at a Harry Potter themed, skill-set class, Z, H and I had fun revisiting parks and trying out a new park. We focused on parks in Dublin since V's class was at Sells Middle School.

We had such a great week!

Harnessing Summer

It's amazing how fast our summers fill up. The kids haven't gone a week without some sort of a commitment since the first week of summer. I'm hoping we get at least one week in August where we're not obligated to really anything. But even so, Vanessa has found ways to spend her time, releasing more of her creative side than her athletic side. It helped to move from only having to wear her harness OR her sling, not both, so you might guess she would choose the harness most of the time, unless she is wearing a sleeveless top or at the pool.

She didn't get to join her lunch bunch group every time this summer but she got to jump in on 1 of their gatherings. It worked out well that she could hang there with her softball buddy.

Flossing

My kids don't like flossing their teeth but they sure love to Floss Dance! Vanessa, Zane and I were heading out for a little bit when Zane was waiting patiently and just sort of Flossing. Then Hendrix jumped in there to Floss too. So we asked that he do it again so I could catch video. :-) He almost has it!

Off the Grid

Lake Lure is sort of off the grid. Surprisingly we had better satellite wi-fi than cellphone service, so in that sense, we were still pretty connected. Even so, we mostly went off the grid . . .

We were far enough off the grid to see turkey, lizard, turtle, deer, snake, catfish, minnows . . .
Broad River runs through Chimney Rock and Lake Lure area . . .
There really were a ton of games and puzzles!
I loved that there was a church pew in the garage/game room!
Hendrix had to try all the games too!
And how often does H stop and throw his hands up?! Defeated!
There H goes again . . .
I was on the front porch, peeking through the window. They didn't know I snapped a pic. Vanessa was actually jumping up behind Zane to scare him.
There were nights when Hendrix had dinner at 11PM . . . ;-/
And we had to go off the grid to score Zane a box turtle. He named her Leaf. Her favorite food is frozen broccoli. :-) She rode home with us in a diaper box.
