Really the kids were mostly just excited by the cabin and property we were on. On our full day there, they didn't want to venture out and about -- they just wanted to stay put. We stayed at Carnifex Ferry Cottages, which is adjacent to the Carnifex Ferry Battlefields. There were Union soldiers creeping up the land we were on to push back the Confederate soldiers and forcing them to retreat.
Hendrix enjoyed the new toys of pots and pans and stacking bottles. Zane has decided he's saving money for a hot tub. Vanessa enjoyed the woods and hammock.
And Zane and Hendrix enjoyed chasing games around the fireplace.

End of Summer Adventure (Part 2)
Our first stop was Sandstone Falls. It is more developed than 18 years ago but we still visited during a lot of development taking place, which required lots of patience. The Visitor Center is new since we last visited. Currently you have to drive 10 miles south of 64, through Hinton, WV, and back up 10 miles along a mostly one lane road. They are paving and building new roads, and while stopped for construction one of multiple times, the worker told us they are working on a 2-year project where there will be a new bridge on the west side and north end of the river, by 64, so tourists can go the much easier route. It's a beautiful area and we can't believe it's taken this long for many to catch on!
While here, Hendrix yelled at the falls and got almost uncontrollably excited about getting to them. So Hendrix and I played in a rock bed while Vanessa, Zane and Daddy walked up to the edge of the falls.

End of Summer Adventure (Part 1)
It was a slow go. With every intention to jump right into our adventures, we jumped on a Lorobi's tangent instead. It was worth it. And then, Zane yanks out another tooth!

Vanessa's 10
So wild to think Vanessa is 10. We're so very thankful for her. She's wild, wonderful, and absolutely beautiful. She's got a strong personality. She has a very passionate heart. She's bright, artistic, and athletic. I just know that God has big plans for her, even if not by worldly standards.
