Hey Baby, Slow Down

Hendrix is changing so fast! He cooed in an intentional verbal exchange for the first time on 3.10.16. He's staying awake for longer periods and is learning to work his body. He lifts himself from our chests to look around. He lifts himself while on his tummy. He's trying to wiggle into other positions and to flip. Why are they always in such a hurry?!

Vanessa and Zane love to count off and help Hendrix do five sit ups a day. We try not to overwork him. ;-)

What a doozy!

This was a crazy delivery and remains to be a crazy recovery. We've basically had to quarantine ourselves. Once we got home, Daddy and Mommy were still in recovery from upper respiratory infections. Zane seemed to relapse into something stomach related. Vanessa is the only one who seemed to be making a full recovery. Hendrix has continued to do well. Thank God.

So needless to say, we have laid low. We're hoping soon we can catch up on the many introductions we've delayed.

Welcome Home

We left the hospital on March 3, the original day Hendrix was due to arrive, and cousin Luke's b-day. Because I had to have a repeat c-section, the doc scheduled it for March 2. Then, about a month or so ago, the doc informed that the conference she thought started March 3rd actually started March 2. She told me we could keep the original date, but I felt I should try to schedule around her schedule since I chose her for her expertise, so we rescheduled for March 8, with the idea that it was highly unlikely I would make it till then. All that planning didn't matter, of course. When the doc saw me on Feb 26, she said she thought I would probably go sooner than later. She was right and it was at a time when her partner was on call.

The delivery went well. The hospital staff were awesome. They hated to see Hendrix go, anxious for turns to show him off in the nursery. I was told he was the quietest and easiest while in there, just listening and looking around. We were excited to go home though. Hendrix only lost like an ounce and half in weight. And he was/is eating like a champ. He took to the carseat well and seemed to enjoy the brightness when entering the great room at home -- so many things to see!

Vanessa and Zane made a banner for our return. What a great addition Hendrix is to our family.

The Many Faces of Hendrix

"Well I realize that I've been hypnotized,
I love your gypsy eyes..." ~ Jimi Hendrix
Hendrix and I entertained ourselves a bunch by playing with the camera. Late nights were spent watching TV and cruising the internet on my phone. We talked about a lot of stuff too. The last night we were there, we were watching Pawn Stars when a Hendrix guitar was brought into the shop.  It was priced anywhere from $750,000 to $1 Mil.

Hendrix 1-day-old

Daddy was the first to hold Hendrix. I'm always so thankful he can do that since I'm never in any condition to do so. He didn't get the first poopy diaper this time, but we were sure he'd get a turn with that too.
The kids had to wait to meet their baby brother, but when they did, you could tell their hearts melted, as did ours.
