Walkman

We've tried over and over to catch video of Zane walking. He's been taking independent steps here and there for a few weeks now. Video has been hard due to the natural irony of trying to catch a little one taking his or her first steps. (I wonder what the odds are for really capturing a kid's FIRST steps on video . . .?)

I was proud of Zane for walking across the kitchen last night. He seemed to be proud he was able to impress me. But when I got the camera out, of course he wouldn't repeat it. Then of course his sister makes it hard to capture any video, trying to take center stage every time we pull out the camera. (We keep telling her that we have video of her taking her first steps and now it's Zane's turn. We let her watch her early videos too, thinking that will satisfy her, but . . .)

Here's video of Zane walking some. It was captured right before bedtime, so he's a little frustrated and irritable and just wants us to head for bed. But you can get the point of him beginning to walk all on his own. Much like his sister, he still opts to crawl to get places fast. (Last night he was trying to skateboard on the patio -- he had the idea, copying what he's seen his sister and daddy do.)
