godly light

Isaiah 60:19

". . .  for the Lord will be your everlasting light, . . ."

And one for good measure:

While Vanessa enjoyed another round of VBS with her sweet friends Noah and Julia, Mommy and Zane explored Alum Creek State Park and the Hoover Dam (Ohio of course.)

Occurred

Now that Vanessa is 5, she has decided she is capable of so much more. She was a "star patient" when getting shots. She was proud to tell her nurses that she takes showers because she is 5. She is keeping her room picked up and says she doesn't need a light on when she sleeps. She likes taking care of her little brother and insists he can take a shower too, as long as she is there to help.

What has washed over her?! Is it really just about turning 5?

Check out some fun pictures from her birthday celebration!

Five Years Ago

Five years ago our lives were transformed from childless to blessed. She's a huge part of our world, and I'm not ashamed to say, partly my number one focus. She's friendly, helpful, creative with appearance, assertive, and compassionate. She's extremely fond of family and friends, puzzled by some but made content by many others. She explains that God gave us to her to help and protect her in the world. And although it feels like we've spent most of our time teaching and helping her, truly God has used her to shape us.

Zane's Declaration

From getting his own water from the fridge (except when he decides to pour it down the heater/AC vent or on a table or floor to enjoy it trickling down at a slant) to sitting at the kitchen island to share crayons and color a picture, he is quick to declare his independence.
Vanessa: "Thanks for finding me red, Zane."
