5 Months Already

My baby boy is growing too fast! Yes, I wish I could freeze time but there is a lot of joy watching his personality develop. I didn't think it was possible but he's more aggressive with all he does than Vanessa was.

He's been playing with his toes and not napping well because he has new tricks to try. He started creeping and now he's on all fours, trying to crawl forward. He is moving backward but knows he wants to go forward so he propels himself using his big toes, often launching himself too hard and smacking his face on the floor or into the side of the crib.

He's not sleeping much in the crib but it is indeed a safe spot to place him to try skills. He prefers Mommy and Daddy's bed and I'm okay with that for now, just as long as we're all sleeping. He's trying to sit up from a horizontal position. The boy has some major core strength. In a picture below you'll see where I have hold of his leg while he's trying to lunge forward and over the chair to stare at things. Every now and again we catch a few moments to snooze, and Daddy's lap works well on a Sunday afternoon.

He keeps ending up on his tummy when in his infant chair/rocker, so I only place him there now for just a moment to grab something. I think part of the reason is that he loves to look at the patterns and things on the fabric. He still enjoys the bouncer in the upstairs bathroom, which is nice. The Bumbo only lasts a couple of minutes too. Good thing his thighs are extra thick and we have to pull apart the parts of the Bumbo to get him in it, otherwise he would have already flipped himself out a number of times.

He plays with all kinds of toys. A grab ball with a belled ball inside of it that he got as a party favor seems to be his favorite toy. He'll fight sleep to play with it. He LOVES Brutus and smiles at him and kisses him. He wears 9 and 12 month items. His shoulders are still very broad and torso is longer proportionally than his legs. I'm wondering if he's built like his Pappaw in regards to legs. Who knows with torso and shoulders since Daddy and Pappaw actually were unbiologically similar.

Just like Zane and Grandpa, though, he likes to stick his tongue out as he's thinking and working. He's very vocal and very grabby. My back hurts, not from the carrier but from his lunging, grabbing and thrusting. He loves to pat my face and rub my arms and head. I love it too. He rubs the back of his head and plays with his ears. He's still so ticklish and seems to have a great sense of humor.
