No Place Like Home

Above is our "gingerbread" house for Christmas 2014. We don't buy the kits. We just mostly empty the pantry and candy bowl to make something. :-) Each year has been different. Last year we used Rice Krispie treats. This year we used graham crackers and vanilla wafers as pillars for the roof. We sprinkled coconut for snow. Vanessa decided to use toffee drops as stepping stones.
We turned a secondhand side table into a LEGO table this year. LEGOs can be placed in the drawers. Zane doesn't like to take apart the creations, but we convinced him it would be okay since we can take a picture. And Daddy got him excited about building something new.
Zane insists that one day his cool house will have a slide on the roof. Our toy figure Jesus approves.
Daddy took off the entire week between Christmas and New Year's  Day. This is the first time he's been able to do that with the kids. It was nice to have the week at home -- "sleeping in" and eating fattening breakfasts. We ventured out a few times but the kids were anxious to get back home. There really is no place like home.
