It's interesting to watch the Vanessa and Zane play their best friends in ball games. I swear they kick it up an extra notch. But all in good fun, it's best friend ball!

Field Day 2018
Vanessa's last field day! I enjoyed spending the day with her and Zane.
A couple of our favorite photos, where Miss Hall was being chased by her class, all attempting to soak her by dumping out their spray bottles on her! Vanessa scored and I ran up and scored a great shot at just the right time.
We'll miss these times with you Ness!

The last few standing for Zane's side, won the tugging!
I was manning Twister most of my time there. And Daddy manned a bounce house while he was there. We'll miss these times with you Ness!

Take Me to the Moon
Hendrix has been asking a lot about the moon and stars. When we were outside the other day, and he was running along, he stopped suddenly and started looking up. Then he pointed and asked "Mama, is that moon?"
He was right, a smidgen of the moon was up in the sky. It was only appearing as a fingernail portion, so I was extra impressed he found it and named it correctly. I then realized he seems to be very interested in a Peppa Pig episode where they get in a rocket and go to the moon. Vanessa is also into space, and always has been.
At 2 1/2 she talked a lot about celestial bodies. She wants to go to space one day, and it scares me to death to think there's a great possibility. But now with Hendrix's strong interest too, I can't help but wonder if at least two of my children end up traveling to Mars on one of Elon Musk's inspired spacecrafts . . . I'll wait for them back on Earth . . . :-)

Color Me Bad
Sometimes Hendrix's intensities can color him bad, but he's one of the sweetest little guys. I decided last week that God blessed us with him to just sprinkle more reminders of appreciation for all good things.
In moments Hendrix says thank you more than any toddler I've witnessed, even for things that certainly don't require it and he sometimes repeats it after every move that benefits anyone in some way. How did his heart get so big? He colors a much better picture than I could have ever imagined.

Bookie
As we entered the library the other day, Zane inhaled loudly and said "I just love the smell here..." I chuckled. He noticed and asked why? I replied it was just an unexpected comment. He went on "No, really. I've always loved the smell here. We used to come here together all the time. Just you and me. It's been a long time since you and me have come to the library just you and me."
We browsed and talked. It was obvious when our trip was coming to an end, so I asked Zane if he would read me a story. He rolled his eyes and asked which one. I picked a picture book off the shelf. He told me it was a book for babies. I replied "No way. I love picture books. Even older people can learn things from a picture book." So he read to me and it was nice.

Do the math!
Because he's been so very careful lately, Hendrix has been able to explore some things that are usually deemed untouchable. He got in the keepsake hutch the other day and created some of his own games. Before I knew it he was demonstrating math concepts. (This is the kind of stuff that inspires the interactive subject matter I come up with.)
Hendrix sorted the decorative fruit into 3 vintage goblets that belonged to his great great aunt Helen. He put 2 "apples" in each. When I tried to participate and suggested we sort them by color, he wasn't having it and it was obvious that I was disrupting a ton of already great things happening.
